Staff Announcement: Director of Youth Ministry

Dear Trinity Parishioners,

We are excited to announce a new addition to our ministerial staff this month. We have called Ms. Addie Tapp to be our new Director of Youth Ministry. She comes to us from Houston, Texas, by way of Furman University. Addie is warmly engaging, spiritually committed, and possesses a charming and quick wit. She is a grounded and gifted leader with special skills in logistics, organization, communication, and mentoring.

Addie comes out of a great leadership development program at Camp Allen in the Diocese of Texas. Having served on the Senior Staff and as a Camp Site Coordinator, she managed the logistics of hundreds of campers and staff, helping make a complex system run smoothly. During her time in Upper South Carolina, Addie served as the lay peer minister for the Canterbury Campus Ministry at Furman University, and she has provided leadership at the Vocare renewal weekend for young adults. Addie was also sponsored by the Diocese of Upper South Carolina to attend Forward Movement's Evangelism Matters Conference this past spring. In addition to her ministry experience, she has worked with Bridges to a Brighter Future, mentoring high school students through the college and scholarship application process.

Addie brings a rich formational experience in youth ministry from her years as a young person at St. John the Divine Episcopal Church in Houston. Her entry into youth ministry began with her 7th grade Confirmation Class. That experience of community and service cultivated a passion for Confirmation that resonates still today. From a dynamic youth group and mission engagement to the 30 Hour Famine and Happening retreats, Addie has experienced and facilitated transformative formation at both the parish and diocesan levels.

We have been impressed with Addie's grounded faith in Christ, her love of the Church, and her passion for cultivating community and relationships. In particular, we are excited about Addie's call to walk with young people in the transitional phases of life, helping them overcome obstacles and reach their potential.

Addie will begin work on Monday, June 11th, and she will be introduced to the parish on Sunday, June 17th at the 10:00am service. The Youth Ministry Committee is making plans for small group gatherings for youth to meet Addie, and Trinity is making plans for a parish-wide reception to welcome her into our community.

Warmly in Christ,

The Very Rev'd Timothy Jones

The Rev'd Dorian Del Priore
