Acolyting offers young people in grades 7-12 the opportunity to serve as ministers in Cathedral worship. Acolytes lead processions, take responsibility for lighting and extinguishing candles and assist priests and deacons in preparation for communion. There are approximately six teams - each headed by a senior acolyte. One of the six teams serves at either the 9:00 a.m. or 11:30 a.m. Sunday services in the Cathedral. During the summer worship schedule teams combine to serve at the 10:00 a.m. worship service. Throughout the year, acolytes may also be asked to serve at weddings, funerals and other special services. The Acolyte Program at Trinity has grown by leaps and bounds over the past five years.
You may also be contacted to serve as an acolyte during special seasonal services such as weddings, funerals, etc.
Questions? Contact The Rev'd L. Sue von Rautenkranz, Canon for Youth Ministry, Diocese of Upper South Carolina, e-mail or 803-771-7800.
