Special MLK Evensong Service

We will have a special Sunday Evensong service the day before Martin Luther King Day, on Sunday, January 14 at 4 pm. Trinity will be partnering with St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Columbia for the Cathedral service.

Two speakers will share the homily, both of whom became friends out of response to profound tragedy: Trinity member, federal prosecutor, and assistant U.S. Attorney Jay Richardson and Emanuel AME Church pastor Eric Manning.

Jay had life-changing experiences during his months prosecuting Dylann Roof. Most transforming of all was spending many hours with members of Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, especially families of the slain. He was inspired by their faith and example. He grew close to the current pastor, the Rev’d Manning, who preaches in profound ways about pastoring in the wake of that tragedy.

Both will speak at our Martin Luther King, Jr. Evensong on January 14, at 4 pm. Bishop Waldo will help officiate. The choir of Vorhees College will sing. The wider community is invited. A reception will follow.
