Can You Spare Four Hours a Month to be a Neighbor?
There are members of Trinity who could use a little “neighborly help”. And there are those of us with a few hours to spare each month who could help if we just knew the who and what and how!! Several years ago Trinity Cathedral developed a new ministry of Care Teams, to match up volunteers with those in need. Each Care Team is comprised of six to eight individuals with different abilities, talents and interests.
The ways in which we might be asked to help varies. Perhaps someone who has undergone hip or knee surgery will need an occasional driver or someone to help with work in the yard or around the house until they are back on their feet. Another individual might be able to continue to live independently at home, if only they could have some help once or twice a week. And still another family might be feeling overwhelmed with parenting responsibilities while undergoing the fight of their life with a serious illness.
The needs and the degree of help we give varies…. but we make a difference by lending a hand for only a few hours each month. Every team is backed by the support of the Cathedral clergy staff. And every team member is given training in the opportunities, guidelines and boundaries of the ministry. Please contact Gloria Dorris, 794-1295, if you are interested in this very rewarding ministry.
