Trinity is in a great place. In 20 years of membership, we’ve never seen Trinity so alive. The worship and programming schedules are incredible and provide ample opportunity for everyone to plug in and “sync up” with God and each other.
Over the past eight years Trinity has accomplished some amazing financial feats. Beginning in 2001 we set out to build the Trinity Center for Mission and Ministry, and we did that. In 2006 we set out to restore our beloved Cathedral and are in the midst of doing that. To accomplish all of this, Trinity has raised over $13 million dollars above and beyond the annual stewardship pledges! However, these campaigns have taken their toll on the annual operating fund. Since 2003 the number of pledges has declined by 18% and the pledging income is down 9% when adjusted for inflation. Now is the time to turn this trend around.
Personal financial stewardship is a faith matter. Either we have the faith and thus the desire to be Godly stewards of our money, or we don’t. Godly personal stewardship starts with the acknowledgement and joy that all we have is from God. He gives us stewardship of 100% of our money and only asks for a minimum of the first 10% in return. What an amazing deal! Personal financial stewardship is how we show God that we put all of our trust in Him and know that He will provide for all our needs.
This year we are asking that you consider not only the dollar amount of your pledge but also the percentage of your income that your pledge represents. For some making a 10% or more pledge is easy. For others, 10% seems like a giant leap. By looking at your pledge as a percentage of your income, you can see how you’re doing in working toward the Biblical 10% standard. Perhaps you pledged 5% of your income last year. If 10% is too big a step for you this year, consider 6, 7 or 8% with the goal of getting to 10% in the next few years. This is the whole concept of Priority, Percentage, Progressive Giving. Make God your first priority and give a progressively growing percentage.
God desires a deep, personal relationship with us through our faith in and walk with Jesus. He wants us to know Him through Bible reading and study, personal prayer, worshipping together, fellowship and outreach. Trinity makes this possible for all of us. Please ask God to guide you to step out with your 2010 pledge and Give Fearlessly!
Faithfully,
Rox, Robin, and Rox III Pollard
