Dear Lord,
As we begin the search for a Canon for Youth here at Trinity, we ask that you remind us constantly that the Holy Spirit will be at work throughout this process. Give us willing hearts and discerning minds as we begin to think and pray about what lies ahead. Keep us mindful of the awesome responsibility we undertake: to welcome into our midst someone who will passionately accept the role of moving amongst our young people and others at Trinity and beyond. We pray that lives will be changed not only when we end our search but also in the process. We ask your guidance in building support for this process within the greater community of Trinity. May we keep our young people at the heart of this mission from this day onward such that we may be faithful stewards to them and to You. In Christ’s name we pray.  Amen.

Trinity Cathedral prayerfully seeks someone to lead the continuous building of a faithful community of young people and their families in seeking and serving Christ in all persons.” This language comes from the first paragraph in the job description developed as part of the search for a Youth Minister. At its initial meeting in January of 2008, the committee unanimously agreed to purposefully engage the entire congregation in meaningful prayer to fulfill the vision of bringing someone to Trinity with the energy and vision to touch each young person in the Cathedral. A pioneering committee member proposed commissioning a visual image to capture the mission of this call. Roger Hutchison, Trinity’s talented Canon for Children’s Ministries, agreed to submit a painting that would be symbolic of our prayers. This painting will be a gift to that person who joyfully answers God’s call to come to Trinity Cathedral to minister to and serve with our young people.

Search Committee Members:
Katie Fritze and Linda Rogers, co-chairs; Kirsten Moorman, Melanie Glenn, Elizabeth Dorn,
Lisa Bailey, Jack Godbold, Brett Frantz, Ted Riley and Gus Brabham.
