Vestment Renewal Project

“Let thy priests be clothed with righteousness; and let thy saints shout for joy.”

–Psalm 132:9

Beloved in Christ,

In 2022, we will celebrate two deeply meaningful events in the life of our Cathedral and our Diocese. In just a few short weeks, on February 26, Trinity will be honored to host the Ordination and Consecration of the 9th Bishop of Upper South Carolina. Later this year, on November 12, we will be honored to host the 100th Annual Convention of our Diocese: our centennial celebration!

One wonderful and beautiful way to commemorate these milestones is with the commissioning of a new set of festal vestments to be used on high feast days here at Trinity. Vestments in gold silk, with special accents and colors that complement our beautiful spaces, will exalt our celebrations at Easter and Christmas, and other great feasts. And we will continue to use our well-loved white set in the seasons that accompany those holy days, and for occasions such as weddings and funerals.

I am thrilled to share with you that the Daughters of the Holy Cross, along with an anonymous donor, have already contributed $12,000–more than half of the funds needed to accomplish this project. Now I would like to invite all of the people of Trinity to participate.

No gift is too small. While an estimated price list is offered below as a guide, every contribution will help. Gifts can be made in memory or honor of family and friends. Rather than inscribing donor names inside the vestments themselves–where only the clergy ever see them!–our plan is to recognize all donors and record all intentions in a framed document that will hang in the Sacristy. Gifts can, of course, be made anonymously. And in the event this effort is oversubscribed, any funds in excess of our goal will be used to establish a Vestment Renewal Fund to ensure that our vestments are always properly maintained, repaired, and, when necessary, replaced.

All glory be to God, who blesses us with the beauty of creation and accepts our willing offering of beautiful adornments for his sanctuary! Please make your contribution by April 1, 2022
