What to Expect at Worship

We would love for you to join us at Trinity for worship! We know that it can be intimidating to walk into a new church for the first time, and hope that the information found here can help.

Our Cathedral services on Sunday are at 8:00 am (Holy Eucharist Rite I) and 10:30 am (Holy Eucharist Rite II); we offer an Evensong service at 4:00 pm in the Cathedral as well during the fall, winter and spring. We offer two chapel services on Sundays in our Keenan Chapel, located between the Trinity Center and our main parking lot. Our chapel services are at 11:15 am (Holy Eucharist Rite II), and at 6:00 pm (The Table, also Holy Eucharist Rite II).

We want to make your first experience worshipping with us as easy and as pleasant as possible. We love visitors, and will welcome you warmly, but also give you room to breathe and experience worship at Trinity. If you want to connect with us, please fill out a visitor card found in your pew and return it in the collection plate during the service. If you would like to introduce yourself or connect with us while you are here, we would love that! There are always people at our Welcome Center who are excited to see a new face on Sundays. Additionally, our Newcomer Coordinator Allison Cox would love the opportunity to get to know you and share what is so wonderful about Trinity. You can reach her at acox@trinitysc.org.

Where do I park?

We are a church located in the very heart of downtown Columbia, so parking at Trinity can sometimes be tricky. We have a parking lot located at the corner of Marion and Senate Streets, and street parking is available on all four streets that surround the Cathedral - Senate, Marion, Gervais and Sumter Streets. If you don't know where our church is, here are the directions, as well as a map.

What do I wear?

We are a diverse, downtown congregation with dress preferences just as diverse as we are. Our Keenan Chapel services tend to run a little more casually in terms of dress than our Cathedral services, where people normally prefer business casual dress or maybe an outfit you would wear out to dinner. However, please just come as you are!

Can I bring my children?

Yes! Children are welcome to attend and always have a place at Trinity on Sunday mornings. During the 10:30 am Cathedral service, children ages 3 through 5th grade are invited to attend Liturgy Preparation, which occurs in another part of the church while the sermon is being given during the service.

Nursery care during the 10:30 am service, as well as the 9:15 am formation hour preceding the Cathedral service, is also available. The ages that are eligible to attend include babies 6 weeks or older, one year olds and two year olds. Care is available beginning at 9:00 am through 12:00 pm in the Parish House.  Each classroom is staffed by paid, trained caregivers and parent volunteers. During the Sunday school year, Bible stories and prayers are presented to the one and two-year-olds. Three, four, and five year olds are expected to attend the service with their parents and to participate in liturgy preparation activities during a portion of the service.

There are formation opportunities for children ages 3 years all the way through high school seniors on Sunday mornings. Please click here to read about children's formation, and click here to read about youth formation. If you have any questions about either, please contact Bibs Babson (Children's Ministries) a bbabson@trinitysc.org, and Addie Tapp (Youth Ministries) at youth@trinitysc.org.

Where is the entrance?

Our Welcome Center is located just off of the main parking lot at the corner of Marion and Senate Streets. On Sundays, you can enter the Cathedral from the doors directly on Sumter Street. Our Keenan Chapel entrance is located near the main church parking lot as well; instead of heading towards the Welcome Center, you will proceed through the courtyard to enter the Chapel.

Are there worship opportunities on days other than Sundays?

We have opportunities throught the week to worship, and would love to have you join us for those services as well! Please click here to view the worship schedule during the week.
