God is calling us into an exciting future, and Trinity Episcopal Cathedral’s best days lie ahead. Over the next five years, we will make the necessary bold moves to continue to bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ to Columbia in ways that are relevant, hopeful, and transformative for our members and our community. By 2027 – our Golden Jubilee as the Cathedral Parish of the Episcopal Diocese of Upper South Carolina – we will be:

A place for transformation.

We will have over 1000 people actively participating with Trinity each week in Sunday worship services, as well as in online resources, small groups, and giving. We will be a community transformed by the Word of God, nourished by the Sacraments of the Church, and characterized by love, learning, and action for the Good News.

We will create strategic offerings online and in-person that will help current and new members grow in their knowledge and love of the Lord. Our programming and communications will lead us to seek God’s presence and grace in all aspects of our lives: mind, body, heart, and soul. Scripture will be embedded in all of our environments, forming our people and manifesting our hope in Christ.

We will facilitate engagement through technology–including our website, our social media presence, and our database–decreasing barriers to communication among members and promoting awareness of opportunities for participation in worship, fellowship, pastoral care, Faith in Action, and other ministries. We will identify clear pathways for parishioners to grow in leadership and cultivate a culture of empowered, active, all-in membership.

A place for families.

Over 300 children and youth will be engaged in Christian formation and fellowship monthly, with a fully updated space for Children and Family Ministries and a new space dedicated to Youth Ministries.

We will articulate a clear path for children and youth to grow and thrive in a lively faith from birth through high school graduation and beyond. This will include key benchmarks for spiritual practices and experiences for individuals and families, mission opportunities, leadership development, service, and fun! Through the ministries of Trinity our children and adults will come to know Jesus Christ, and make him known.

We will partner with families to lead and support them as they nurture the spiritual, emotional, and mental well-being of their children, rooted in our Anglican tradition. We will be a place of safety, encouragement, and development for our families.

With our unique strength in music, we will launch a youth music academy to serve our community and enhance our worship to the glory of God. This will include a choir school and music training for underprivileged children. Our kids will be known for their faith expressed through their music.

A place for Columbia.

In our unique role as the Episcopal Church’s Cathedral at the geographic center of South Carolina, we will partner with key community leaders and organizations to be a place for care and service in our city, region, and state. Recognizing the value of supporting and enhancing those organizations already doing great things to serve God and our neighbors, we will facilitate connections between their needs and our resources. We will continually discern, in conversation with partners, the needs of our community, and evaluate the extent to which we can serve those needs and spearhead meaningful change. We will be solution-minded and fully engaged in the life of our city.

In obedience to Our Lord’s command to welcome little children in his Name, we will continue to offer high-quality childcare through the Trinity Learning Center, further developing this ministry as a Christian school serving the needs of all. We will strengthen the relationship between the TLC and the Cathedral, extending an invitation to all families to become involved in Trinity.

The Trinity Center for Mission and Ministry will be fully activated, funded, and staffed seven days a week for Gospel outreach, physical health and wellness, and learning with our community partners. We will be serving over 100,000 meals a year through our kitchen to nourish our parishioners and our wider community. We will be viewed as a welcoming center for the city as we cultivate and invite others into environments for prayer and mission on our campus. We will love Columbia well!

In the years ahead, Trinity will be a place for all, and a place for you! Join us in this exciting journey as we proclaim Christ crucified and risen, and glorify our God and Father through the mighty power of the Holy Spirit.
