Lent, Holy Week and Easter at Trinity

From the quiet reflections of Lent, to the solemn remembrances of Holy Week, and finally to the joyful triumph of Easter Sunday, this is a season rich in meaning and tradition. We hope you will find personal and spiritual significance in these 40 days. We invite you to learn more and experience something new in the upcoming services and contemplative spaces we will offer. 

Shrove Tuesday - February 13
Pancake supper, 5:30 p.m. in Satterlee Hall

Ash Wednesday - February 14

  • Holy Eucharist and imposition of ashes at 8:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. in the Cathedral 
  • Family service with Holy Eucharist and imposition of ashes at 5:00 p.m. in Cart Courtyard (Keenan Chapel if raining)
     

Morning Prayer

Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, beginning Feb. 20, at 8:30 a.m. in Keenan Chapel (includes Holy Eucharist on Wednesdays). 
This schedule will continue in perpetuity, with the exception of announced breaks for Holy Week, Easter Week, Christmas Week, etc.

Holy Week

All regularly scheduled services, meetings, classes and events will be suspended for Holy Week and Easter Week (March 24-April 6).


Palm Sunday – March 24

  • Holy Eucharist and Liturgy of the Palms at 8:00 a.m. in Keenan Chapel
  • Holy Eucharist and Liturgy of the Palms at 9:00 a.m. in the Cathedral. Please gather on the Cathedral Lawn at 8:45 a.m. for the procession into the Cathedral. The dean will offer a children's message during the service in place of liturgy preparation.
  • Refreshments on the lawn at 10:00. No Sunday School classes.
  • Holy Eucharist and Liturgy of the Palms at 11:00 a.m. in the Cathedral.  Livestream available.
  • A Meditation on the Passion of Christ at 4:00 p.m. in the Cathedral. Livestream available.
  • Holy Eucharist and Liturgy of the Palms at 5:00 p.m. in Keenan Chapel
     

Holy Tuesday – March 26

  • Chrism Mass and Renewal of Ordination Vows at 11:00 a.m. in the Cathedral

Maundy Thursday – March 28

  • Family foot-washing and instructed Eucharist at 5:00 p.m. in Cart Courtyard and Keenan Chapel
  • Soup supper at 5:30 p.m. in Satterlee Hall
  • Proper Liturgy for Maundy Thursday with foot-washing, the Institution of the Eucharist, and Stripping of the Altar at 6:30 p.m. in the Cathedral. Livestream available.
  • Organ improvisation on the Stations of the Cross at 10:00 p.m. in the Cathedral
  • All-night vigil at the Altar of Repose, Seibels Chapel in the Cathedral


Good Friday – March 29

  • Matins at 8:30 a.m. in the Cathedral
  • Clergy will be available in Seibels Chapel from 9:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m. (with the exception of worship services) to hear confession
  • Three-hours’ devotion 12:00-3:00 p.m. in the Cathedral
  • Stations of the Cross for children and families 5:00 p.m. in Cart Courtyard
  • Proper Liturgy for Good Friday with Communion from the Reserved Sacrament 6:30 in the Cathedral. Livestream available.


Holy Saturday – March 30

  • Children’s Easter egg-dying at 9:00 a.m. in Cart Courtyard
  • Proper Liturgy for Holy Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in the Cathedral
  • The Great Vigil of Easter with Holy Eucharist at 6:30 p.m. in the Cathedral. This service begins outside. Livestream available.
  • Parish Easter Party following the Vigil in Satterlee Hall


The Sunday of the Resurrection – March 31

  • Holy Eucharist at 8:00 a.m. in Keenan Chapel
  • Easter services at 9:00 a.m. in the Cathedral
  • Refreshments on the Cathedral Lawn at 10:00 a.m.
  • Holy Eucharist at 11:00 a.m. in the Cathedral. Livestream available.
  • Festal Evensong at 4:00 p.m. in the Cathedral. Livestream available.
  • Holy Eucharist services at 5:00 p.m. in Keenan Chapel

 

The Trinity parish offices will be closed on Monday, April 1. In addition, all regularly scheduled services, meetings, classes and events will be suspended for Holy Week and Easter Week (March 24-April 6).
